Along the way, the Prophet made several stops as ordered by Gabriel, including Madinah, Mount Sinai, Bethlehem, and the grave of Moses. Upon reaching the Masjid al-Aqsa, Prophet Muhammad performed his night prayer before ascending to the seven heavens (Mi’raj).
Accompanied by the archangel Gabriel soaring alongside, the ascension transported Prophet Muhammad beyond the seven heavens to reach the Throne of God where he was permitted an audience with the Creator Himself.

In this journey, God told the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about the importance of prayers. On the return journey to Mecca, Mousa asked Muhammad (PBUH) how many prayers God had commanded to be said daily. Muhammad (PBUH) said fifty. Mousa said this was a very high obligation and told him to go back and ask for the number to be reduced. Initially, this was reduced to forty.
Muhammad (PBUH) went back to God several times, with the number of daily prayers eventually settling at five, which remains the duty of a Muslim today.

In the morning, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) excitedly told the people of Makkah about his Night Journey and Ascension – and everyone, except a few of his beloved friends – laughed at him.
He was mocked and bullied and called a mad man, but to their surprise, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) could answer their questions about Jerusalem and the caravan that he passed, arrived as he told them.
Still, the disbelievers refused to believe him and continued to deny this miraculous message. Of course, there were those who stood by him – and this is a good reminder for us too.
